These Terms of Use govern your use of the Gibson County Knife Sharpening website and the sharpening services we provide. Gibson County Knife Sharpening is owned and operated by Kinetic Path Media, LLC (“GCKS,” “we,” or “us”). By using this website or submitting knives for service, you agree to these terms.

Using Our Website

This website is intended to provide information about our sharpening services, pricing, educational resources, and customer portal.

By using this website, you agree not to misuse or interfere with its operation.

Drop-Off Service

Drop-offs and pickups are by appointment.
Please package knives safely to protect everyone handling them.
We reserve the right to refuse service for unsafe, damaged, or inappropriate items.

Sharpening Service

Sharpening removes a small amount of steel to create a new cutting edge. By requesting sharpening, you acknowledge that this process permanently alters the edge of the knife.

We evaluate every knife individually and sharpen it using techniques appropriate for its steel, condition, geometry, and intended use.

Payment and Pickup

Payment is due before your knives are returned, unless you've made other arrangements with us. We'll email your invoice when your knives are ready.

Online, through your Customer Portal: pay with PayPal, or with a credit or debit card. The PayPal button may also offer Venmo, Pay Later, or card payment, depending on your PayPal account and device.
In person at pickup: cash, check, or Venmo.

Please schedule pickup within 30 days of being notified that your knives are ready. We'll make reasonable efforts to remind you. Items that remain unclaimed are handled in accordance with applicable Tennessee law, including any required waiting periods and notices.

Our Satisfaction Promise

If you're not happy, let us know. We want to make it right.

Depending on the situation, we may make it right in one of these ways:

Check the knife with you at pickup and fix any problem on the spot.
Re-sharpen it free of charge if you let us know within 14 days of pickup that the edge isn't right.
Let you choose between a free re-sharpen and a refund of that knife's sharpening fee.
Give it a free touch-up within 30 days if it dulls unusually fast in normal home use.

Normal wear, and chips or other damage that happen after pickup, aren't covered, but we're always glad to look at a knife and talk about what it needs.

Limitation of Liability

Every knife is inspected before sharpening, but some damage cannot be seen until sharpening begins. Hidden cracks, metal fatigue, previous repairs, manufacturing defects, or other pre-existing conditions may become apparent during the sharpening process.

We accept responsibility for exercising reasonable care while your knives are in our possession. Sharpening also carries ordinary and inherent risks, including removing metal, reasonable changes to blade shape or appearance, and exposing or worsening a hidden or pre-existing defect. GCKS and Kinetic Path Media, LLC are not responsible for damage or failure caused by pre-existing conditions, hidden defects, prior damage or repairs, or material weakness.

To the fullest extent permitted by Tennessee law, you release Gibson County Knife Sharpening, Kinetic Path Media, LLC, and their owners, members, employees, and agents from claims arising from the ordinary and inherent risks of the service you authorize and from ordinary negligence associated with that service. This does not apply to gross negligence, reckless conduct, intentional misconduct, or liability that cannot legally be waived.

Your signed agreement controls. When you drop off knives, you sign our Service Intake & Agreement. If anything on this page differs from that signed agreement, the signed agreement governs your service.

Safety After Sharpening

Please use extra caution when your knives are returned. A professionally sharpened knife will cut much more easily than a dull one. Many customers are surprised by just how much less pressure is required.

We recommend testing your freshly sharpened knives carefully and keeping fingers clear of the cutting path until you become accustomed to the new edge. Always use an appropriate cutting board and safe cutting techniques.

Knives and other edged tools are inherently dangerous. Once your items have been returned, Gibson County Knife Sharpening is not responsible for injuries, property damage, or accidents resulting from the handling, use, or misuse of sharpened blades.

Your Customer Portal Account

Keep your password private and don't share your account with others.
Keep your contact information accurate so we can reach you about your knives, invoices, and pickup.
Let us know right away if you believe someone else has accessed your account.
We may suspend or close an account that is misused or used to interfere with the website.

Testimonials, Reviews, and Photos

If you submit a testimonial, ratings, or photos through this website, you confirm that they describe your own experience and that you have the right to share any photos you upload. You give GCKS permission to publish them on this website using the display name and location options you choose. We may make minor edits for spelling, clarity, or length without changing your meaning. Every submission is reviewed before it appears publicly, and you may ask us to remove your testimonial at any time.

We may photograph knives before, during, and after service to document their condition. These condition photos are kept with your service record and in your Customer Portal. We will not use them publicly unless you give permission on your Service Intake & Agreement or in writing, and any public photo will not include personally identifying information.

Articles in our Learning Center and elsewhere on this website are general educational information about knives, sharpening, and knife care. They are not professional, medical, or legal advice, and results depend on your own tools, skill, and situation. Sharpening and handling knives carries a real risk of injury; follow the manufacturer's instructions for your tools and use your own judgment. References to brands, products, or other websites are for information only and are not endorsements. Links to other websites are provided for convenience, and we are not responsible for their content.

Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise noted, all original content on this website—including text, graphics, photographs, logos, and educational articles—is the property of Kinetic Path Media, LLC and may not be reproduced without permission.

Governing Law and Venue

These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee. To the extent permitted by law, any dispute relating to this website or our services will be handled in the courts of Gibson County, Tennessee.

If Part of These Terms Can't Be Enforced

If any part of these Terms of Use is found to be unenforceable, that part will be limited or removed only as much as necessary, and the rest of these terms will remain in effect.

Changes to These Terms

These Terms of Use may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page along with the revision date.
